Each application includes some similar elements, and some unique ones. Below, you'll see the requirements you must send, regardless of your visa needs. Further down, you will find application packages and additional requirements for Central & West Asian countries & Russia. If you require a visa for a Central Asian country not listed here, please contact us for assistance.
You MUST include:
- Application package (see below)
- Your passport
- Two passport-style photos per application
- Proof of travel (flight itinerary, copy of plane ticket, etc.) showing entry into and exit from intended destination
- Additional documentation as required (see country of destination, left)
***Non-US citizens must also send a copy of their proof of status in the U.S. (i.e. front and back of green card, visa, application for status extension, etc.)

1. As above, and letter of invitation must be approved by the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Applicant should be issued a reference number.

2. Copy of invitation letter from Regional Departments of the Ministry of Education, previously submitted by the Min. of Edu. to the Department of Consular Services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The consulate in D.C. will issue the visa upon receipt of confirmation from the Min. of Foreign Affairs.

**For business & private stays of longer than 1 month, the embassy requires an special letter of invitation approved by the Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bishek
RUSSIA
**Some new & exciting requirements: If possible, please print the application double-sided; if hand-written, please use only black ink; cut down photo to fit custom borders on application and do NOT attach it to the application. Just toss it in the package. Thank you.
**Tourist applications require visa support documentation available from your hotel in Russia or for purchase from Tombouctou for $22 per applicant. Request supporting documents in Special Instruction section of Service Request.We will provide you with a guide regarding voucher registration in Russia.
**Business applications require an official invitation, available through your host or for purchase from Tombouctou. Processing speeds and pricing vary, please contact us prior to sending your documents. Request supporting documents in Special Instruction section of Service Request, and contact us for pricing and time-lines.
**Employment applications require an official invitation, available through your host institution. Please note: Applicants are authorized to enter Russia five days after the date of visa issuance. Please plan accordingly.
